Weekly Discipliship Guide
At Gateway, we don’t just want to hear God’s Word—we want to live it. Following Jesus doesn’t stop on Sunday; it continues throughout the week.
Each week, we provide a discipleship guide based on Sunday’s message to help you process Scripture, apply truth, and take next steps in your faith.
You can use this resource on your own, with your family, or with a group of friends. However you choose to engage, our prayer is that God’s Word would shape your life daily and help you become more like Jesus in every area of life.
How to use this guide in a group:
Connection over Completion
The goal of this guide is to facilitate meaningful conversations where everyone can connect with God and one another.
Don't feel pressured to finish
If your group has a deep, life-giving conversation on just one or two questions, you have succeeded. It is better to go deep on one topic than to rush through all of them.
Follow the conversation
Use these questions as a map, not a script. If the Holy Spirit leads the group toward a specific area of need or prayer, feel free to stay there and skip the rest.
Moments of silence are OK
Give each other space to think and process. A few seconds of quiet often leads to the most honest sharing.

ZEAL CLEANSES
Icebreaker
Have you ever cleaned out a closet, garage, or room and been surprised by how much clutter had accumulated? What did you find?
1. Good Things Can Move Into God Spaces
Read John 2:13-16
Jesus wasn't removing sinful activity as much as He was removing distractions that had taken over the temple's purpose.
Discussion Questions:
What are some good things that can slowly begin competing with God for our attention and affection?
Why do you think "good things" can sometimes be harder to recognize as spiritual distractions than obvious sins?
2. Zeal Recognizes Misplaced Priorities
Read John 2:17 and Matthew 6:33
Everyone else walked past the problem, but Jesus noticed it.
Discussion Questions:
Why is it easy to become complacent about spiritual drift?
What are some warning signs that God may no longer be first in our lives?
3. Zeal Restores Worship
Read Matthew 15:8-9 and John 4:23
Jesus removed obstacles so true worship could be restored.
Discussion Questions:
What is the difference between going through religious motions and genuinely worshiping God?
Have you ever experienced a season when your worship felt routine or disconnected? What helped restore it?
4. I Am the Temple He Is Cleansing
Read John 2:19-21 and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Believers are now temples of the Holy Spirit.
Discussion Questions:
If Jesus were to examine the "temple" of your life today, what might He point out?
What "tables" (priorities, habits, attitudes, distractions) might need to be overturned?
Application
Take a moment to reflect on these questions:
What gets my best time?
What gets my best energy?
Challenge: Identify one area where a good thing may be occupying "God space" and choose one practical step to put God back in first place this week.
